Nine framed drawings are hung in a row on the wall. The drawings consist of minute handwriting, which was produced by writing with a dental instrument over typewriter filmribbon pressed against paper. The trace left on the paper in the carbon from the typewriter film ribbon.
(The text in these pieces is transcribed from letters written by a New York City teacher while he was detained in “The Tombs,” a New York prison, in 1941 for left-wing radical activities. The letters range from June 28, 1941, through July 30, 1941.)
